The things we do for love

M'Kayla wanted a Luau Swim Party, so of course I decide that I am mother-of-the-year, and will make her invitations by hand. I proceeded to make a "tiki hut", create 3-d flower leis, cut out grass skirts, make aloha signs & address/phone number surf board. That was quite the project!!! But, sometimes, like most mothers, I take on more than I can handle, although they did turn out very cute (this picture does not do it justice).

Now onto the homemade cake...again...WHAT WAS I THINKING!!! I am not a great cake decorator...I can barely bake the Betty Crocker mix and get it out of the pan, without destroying it. I attempted to make flavored/colored white chocolate shells & sea stars and decorate it like a beach (per the birthday girl's instructions)...at least it made it until cake time!

The goodies for the guest were fun. Each girl got a coconut cup, a flower lei hair clip, a fan and a bag of candy. At least this wasn't over the top, Right??

At least the birthday girl was happy! (As she posed in front of the decor on the pool fence)
