To my sweet boy-
I can't believe you are 6 now. It seems like yesterday that you were born 4 weeks early. You were so small at 4 lbs. 3 oz and needed so much attention. You only slept 20 minutes to 25 minutes at a time day or night. As a result of your cleft lip and palate, your little life was difficult. You were unable to suck on a bottle, so when you were able to eat, some of the milk would come out of your nose. Because of the hole in your palate, there was nothing to prevent the air from going in your stomach, so you constantly swallowed air and cried from gas pains. I wish I could have taken your pain away, but it has made you the wonderful, compassionate young man you are today.
