I have been thinking lately about all of the time I waste checking social media. Often times, especially this last year, I do so only feel disappointed by the posts/newsfeed in front of me. This last year many people have expressed their anger over different political views or beliefs. I have no problem with people having a different view than mine, but I do have problem with anger and vitriol. I have personally seen that many people have difficulty expressing their views in a kind manner. Maybe it's a result of the examples shown by politicians, celebrities, news stations and news papers fighting so hard to stay relevant, that they will often say things in a hurtful or degrading way, just for publicity; or maybe it is just that these are the last days and Satan is trying to stir up mens hearts to contend with anger one with another (See 3Ne. 11:29) by any means necessary, even if that includes taking our fears, hurts, and strong personal convictions and helping us feel justified in being harsh when expressing them. I don't know what is causing it, but it hurts too see people being so polarized and angry!
Although I am far from perfect, I try to be the kind of person who sees all sides and comes up with a solution that is somewhere in the middle. I read 3-4 major news sites, as well as the text of whatever the article is discussing (if applicable) each day, to try to make sure I see all sides of an issue. I love being well informed and struggle with understanding why others can not see how the other side may feel. I want all people to be and feel loved, even if I do not understand their position. I have decided to start using my blog again as my outlet. That way I can express my feelings, frustrations, hurts, exciting moments, etc. without the obligatory praise or questions that seem to follow social media posts. Hopefully, this will be a more healthy outlet and a fun way to share what is going on in our lives.
Sincerely,
Vickigene
